Through my involvement in Key Club, National Honors Society, and the HOBY Leadership Seminar, I have developed essential leadership skills. These experiences have taught me the importance of collaboration, communication, and service, all of which are crucial in building a positive and effective learning environment. As Vice President of Key Club and a member of NHS, I have learned how to manage projects, lead teams, and inspire others to get invloved in their communities. Attending HOBY further expanded my understanding of leadership by offering new perspectives and strategies for fostering growth and motivation in others. These lessons will continue to influence my approach to teaching, helping me create a classroom where students feel supported, empowered, and encouraged to reach their full potential. 

Internships

  • Intern, 5th Grade Classroom - Wabash Middle School - 2024
    • Assisted the teacher with classroom management, lesson planning, and student activities.
    • Worked one-on-one with students to reinforce concepts in subjects such as math, reading, and writing.
    • Supported small group instruction, helping students understand difficult concepts and provide encouragement .
    • Gained hands-on experience in fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Intern, 4th Grade Classroom - OJ Neighbours Elementary School 
    • Assist in preparing/delivering lessons, including math, reading, and writing.
    • Work directly with students during independent and small group work.
    • Observe and help manage classroom dynamics.
    • Sit in on meetings to help plan the weeks ahead.
    • Provide feedback to students on their work.
  • Radio Station Internship - WKUZ Radio - 2022-2025
    • Collaborate with Furry Fix to build cat shelters for homeless cats in the community.
    • Assist in constructing and assembling the shelters, ensuring they are safe and suitable for the cats.
    • Help set up and volunteer for kids day events; Kids Easter Day, Kids Christmas, Kids Halloween, etc... help kids with activities and give them goodies for free.

My internships have provided valuable hands-on experience that will shape my future in education. Working in 5th and 4th grade classrooms has helped me develop key skills in classroom management, lesson planning, and supporting students. These experiences have reinforced my passion for teaching and my commitment to creating positive learning environments. Additionally, my internship at WKUZ Radio, where I assist with building cat shelters, has taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and community involvement. Helping give kids holidays they might not have had otherwise has shown me the importance of volunteering. These experiences together have deepened my desire to pursue a career in education, where I can inspire students to grow academically and personally.
